Mr. Broadway

2024

The evolution of Lou G. Seigal—once a signature kosher restaurant in New York City—into Ben’s Deli, and now Mr. Broadway, tells a story of transformation and renewal in the heart of Manhattan. As the interior designers for the restaurant, Studio RB took on the challenge of preserving the rich legacy of these iconic establishments while introducing a fresh identity to the space.

Our approach centered on carefully preserving and integrating key architectural Art Deco elements from Ben’s Deli and Lou G. Seigal, including original metalwork, stained glass, and distinctive moldings.
This ongoing project recently reached a major milestone with the bar's completion, a focal point that epitomizes our design approach. The goal for both Studio RB and the client was clear: creating a social hub that feels as though it has always belonged and seamlessly incorporating existing elements into a refreshed design.

Drawing from Art Deco influences and reimagining them with a modern twist, the bar features antique brass elements, 3D tiles, and leathered granite. An eye-catching LED ‘library wall’ transforms the street-facing space into a broadway showstopper, capturing the attention of passersby. Completing the bar is a ‘Starry Night’ ceiling—created with metal panels punched with holes and illuminated by fiber optic lights—each panel uniquely laid out to mimic a glittering night sky, adding a touch of magic to the space.
We are continuously updating the space and are currently working on an exciting addition to the restaurant! This project is a testament to the power of design in bridging the past with the present, honoring the legacy of New York's dining history while crafting a vibrant, new chapter for Mr. Broadway.
