Anixi is a vegan restaurant in Midtown West Manhattan, where Studio RB was tasked with designing a space respectful of the building’s existing architectural character — cast iron gates, wood floors, marble walls, classical columns, and oversized mirrors. The brief was to layer a contemporary interior over these historic bones without erasing them.
Key design moves included a bar front clad in contemporary mosaic tiles echoing Mediterranean traditions, glass shelves and a brick-and-glass wine display cabinet behind the bar, and a main dining hall defined by full-height curtains, semi-circular banquettes in rich green fabric, and a floating ceiling balancing the room’s symmetry. A large fireplace at the back wall, topped with an oversized mirror hand-painted by New York-based artist Lia, serves as the room’s centrepiece. The lower level — housing washrooms, kitchen, and storage — is wrapped in an oversized floral wallcovering and gold ceramic tile.
