The 6 Cortland Lobby is a 700-square-foot residential lobby in Manhattan — a project that demonstrated Studio RB’s ability to make a significant impact within a very constrained brief and budget. The challenge was to transform a dated, generic lobby into a genuine statement of arrival for a building in one of Manhattan’s most competitive residential neighbourhoods.
Studio RB designed around a restrained palette of large-format tile, custom millwork, and architectural lighting, creating a lobby that felt both larger and more considered than its predecessor. The elevator surround, reception desk, and seating area were all redesigned as a coherent suite.
